Reflecting on 2022 and looking forward to 2023

November 17, 2022

A message from our Chairman and CEO, Tom Wyatt

As we near the end of 2022 and reflect on my 10 years as KinderCare Learning Companies’ CEO, I’m struck by how much has changed and what has remained constant in the decade since I joined the company.

KinderCare began with a simple mission: to support America’s working families with high-quality childcare and early learning.  Our company’s mission has remained our North Star for our more than 52-year history. We remain committed to bringing high-quality childcare and early learning to every family in the United States, regardless of their background or means.

What started as a KinderCare center in Montgomery, AL, has grown to a network of more than 2000 programs nationwide. We provide locations at scale to meet the needs of working families wherever they need care, whether that’s in their local communities, workplaces or in their children’s school. We’ve evolved into a family of brands designed to support families of all means. And we’ve developed products and services to support working families’ childcare needs – from backup care to employer-supported childcare tuition reduction partnerships with employers.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen a profound shift how people work. There’s no looking back: employers have embraced new models of working, whether that’s in an office, in a hybrid work environment or fully remote. And because of that, the old ways of supporting employers’ childcare must change.

While the concept of work has shifted, so too must childcare. It’s more important than ever that employers support working parents with flexible childcare benefits that fit their unique needs. KinderCare has the scale and product offerings to truly support America’s working families, whether they need back-up, full-time, or part-time care, with locations in their local communities, at their workplaces, or in their children’s school. Working parents need dynamic solutions—and that’s what we deliver. And it’s a win-win for employers: childcare benefits have been proven to improve employee retention and increase productivity.

KinderCare is more than just a childcare company. We’re a partner. A partner to employers in addressing the evolving needs of working parents as the future of work becomes our reality, and a partner to families making each child’s potential shine.
