KinderCare celebrates 50 years of educational excellence with KinderCare Kids Scholarship Fund

July 15, 2019

Portland, Ore. (July 15, 2019) – Creating classrooms and programs where children can thrive has been foundational at KinderCare, the nation’s largest private provider of early childhood education and care, since opening its doors in 1969.

Today, to celebrate KinderCare’s 50th birthday, the company announced the KinderCare Kids Scholarship Fund, a new annual scholarship program that recognizes the achievements of college-bound alumni. And to commemorate the company’s 50-year history, KinderCare will award its first scholarships to 50 alumni in the amount of $5000 each. The scholarship program has been developed in collaboration with the Oregon Community Foundation.

“We’ve had the privilege of partnering with families to help nurture and educate their children for 50 years. We know KinderCare children who graduate from our programs and enter school ahead of their peers, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our birthday than by supporting our alumni on the next step of their educational journey,” said Tom Wyatt, KinderCare’s CEO. “With this scholarship program, we’re delivering on our commitment to building confidence for life and positively impacting the lives of our families, even after they graduate from our programs.”

The scholarship application cycle will be open from October 1, 2019 - March 1, 2020. Eligible applicants must be enrolled for the 2020-2021 school year in an accredited two- or four-year college. Scholarship recipients will be announced in Spring 2020. To learn more and apply, please visit https://www.kindercare.com/lp/kindercare-scholarship-fund.
